Lift and slide doors are the perfect solution for anyone who wants to convert very wide and tall doors or openings into a sliding vista for maximum natural light.
These doors’ lift and slide mechanism is housed within the door panel and is operated via the large handle, which, when turned 180 degrees, ‘lifts’ the door up. This elevated position takes the direct weight off the rollers, making them almost effortless to slide, regardless of how big and heavy the glass is.
And unlike our standard aluminium sliding doors, this ‘lift and slide’ operation also allows you to lock the doors in an open position, which is ideal for when you have large gatherings, have children playing in and around the doors, or simply want the doors secured in place to ventilate the room.
It’s even possible to combine a lift and slide door with slim sightlines for a clearer viewing experience. We offer two and four-panel doors in a twin-track with a vertical sightline as thin as 25mm.
As we've already mentioned the lift and slide mechanism in these doors makes them very easy to use and slide. We find that homeowners with young children love the lift and slide solution, as do those who are thinking about their twilight years, finding the ease of use provided by this door very appealing for their forever home.
We often find customers desire whole elevations of properties to be taken up by huge sliding doors, often receiving requests for extremely tall doors. And it’s for these applications where lift and slide patio doors are particularly suited. While the frames of these doors tend to be thicker than with our other patio door solutions, this is offset by the very large sizes that lift and slide doors are perfectly suited for.
Lift and slide doors are particularly well suited to those living in exposed locations. The sliding sash is deeper than inline door systems, and when the door is closed, the gearing collapses in on itself, securing the door in position and creating an excellent weather seal.
We also close all the U channels within all our sliding doors with tread plates to improve the aesthetics of our doors, and, more importantly, prevent water, dirt, and debris from building up in the track.
All of our patio doors look sleek and benefit from this increased weather protection.
Our twin track doors boast a slim-line transom with a sightline of just 25mm with our XP Slide LS25 system or 47mm with the XP Infinite. Comprised of two or four panels, a twin-track system allows you to create a generous 50% clear opening to enjoy your view.
Lift and slide doors are so easy to open, thanks to their weight-bearing properties, able to be locked into whatever position best suits you. Whether you’re doing a full clean of the house or relaxing on your patio, you can adjust your lift and slide doors at a moment’s notice
A deeper triple track system allows for three or even six panels to be installed, creating & a 66% clear opening system. The middle panels contain the lift and slide mechanism, making all panels easy to slide, but at the cost of increased profile sightlines.
