A wonderful way to open up your home, the XP Glide S is an exceptional product designed for projects of the grandest scale. A simple turn of a handle lifts the door onto ball bearings, allowing it to open easily. This system also means the door can be locked in any open or closed position. The various product features include stainless steel feature handles, soft close on sliding door panels, smooth, quiet operation, plus it is an extremely thermally efficient product with an overall U value of just 1.3.
The benefits outlined above are why this premium lift and slide door was the perfect product for this luxury home in South Yorkshire. The three separate doors span a total of 16 metres across the rear elevation, with the huge glass panels allowing maximum uninterrupted views out into the valley. The RAL colour used is 7021 which is one of the darkest greys available and is extremely popular on modern new-builds such as this.
The stunning visual impact gained from huge expanses of glass is enhanced further by the huge glazed atrium. Structural curtain walling has been used to create a large shaped panoramic window, which sits above the sliding door and runs the full height of the property, into the shaped ridge within the roof.
Our sliding door solutions are becoming increasingly popular due to the large, unobscured views that can be achieved. We offer four different types of sliding doors, all with various benefits and unique features. The lift and slide door used on this project was the XP Glide R, but for more information on the various sliding door systems available click here to visit our sliding patio door landing page.
